JTOWER has been selected as Infra-Sharing provider for GREEN×EXPO 2027 and will develop the overall communication environment at the venue utilizing outdoor tower sharing. In collaboration with each mobile network operator, JTOWER will be responsible for the entire process from research and design for the installation to construction, operation and maintenance of outdoor communication facilities.

Outdoor tower sharing is a system where JTOWER owns and operates tower structures such as steel towers, concrete and other poles and antennas for the installation of base stations in outdoor communication environments. These facilities are then utilized by telecommunication operators, including mobile network operators.

Utilizing outdoor tower sharing not only reduces capital investment and operation and maintenance costs but also leads to a reduction in environmental impact by reducing the number of constructions. Furthermore, compared to individual installation of communication facilities by each mobile network operator, it can reduce the required installation space by approximately 40%.

Furthermore, at GREEN×EXPO 2027, we will offer distinctive concrete poles that harmonize with the surrounding vegetation. We are also considering the installation of surveillance cameras on the tower, which would allow it to serve as multifunctional pole.

* As of November 21, 2024, the design and specifications are subject to change.

GREEN×EXPO 2027 will utilize 100 hectares of the Former site of Kamiseya Communications Facility in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture (Asahi and Seya wards), and will be held for approximately six months from March 19 (Friday) to September 26 (Sunday), 2027. It will be the highest-class international horticultural exposition since the International Garden and Greenery Exposition, Osaka, Japan 1990, expecting 15 million visitors, including diverse attendance modes such as via information and communications technology (ICT).

After being selected for the project, JTOWER has initiated specific discussions and coordination with mobile network operators to start the installation of communication facilities, with plans to launch services around autumn 2026.

Since 2020, JTOWER has been growing its outdoor tower sharing business through new constructions and carve-outs (proactively acquiring towers) from telecommunication operators such as NTT DOCOMO to improve its operations. As of the end of September 2024, JTOWER operates over 7,200 towers in total.
As a pioneer of Infra-Sharing, JTOWER will maximize its expertise and technology in the telecommunications field to contribute to the digitalization of society.
