We are pleased to announce that JTOWER will develop 5G network through Infra-Sharing and gradually start operation from December 19, 2023 in CHUBU CENTRAIR International Airport Island and surrounding areas, cooperating with 7 parties, Aichi Prefecture, Tokoname City, NTT DOCOMO, INC., KDDI CORPORATION, SoftBank Corp., and Rakuten Mobile, Inc.

Positioning these areas as a social implementation field of cutting-edge technologies and
services, Aichi Prefecture and Tokoname City aim to realize “Aichi Tokoname Super City Initiative”, which promotes the establishment of innovation bases. In March 2022, 7 entities, Aichi Prefecture, Tokoname City, 4 mobile network operators and JTOWER signed the agreement*¹ in order to promote the establishment of 5G service in the target areas.

The agreement aims to install 5G shared-antennas and base station facilities in the target areas in cooperation with various entities and to expand the areas where 5G service is provided. JTOWER collaborated with 4 mobile network operators to install Infra-Sharing equipment in the target areas by leveraging its expertise in Infra-Sharing. The initiative at the central of CHUBU CENTRAIR International Airport Island is expected to be the first in JAPAN as outdoor 5G Infra-Sharing used by 4 mobile network operators in the airport facility.
