JTOWER, Aichi Prefecture and Tokoname City and Mobile Network Operators concluded an agreement on the alignment for the expansion of 5G coverage in CHUBU CENTRAIR International Airport Island and surrounding areas

We are pleased to announce that JTOWER, Aichi Prefecture, Tokoname City, and Mobile Network Operators, NTT DOCOMO, INC., KDDI CORPORATION, SoftBank Corp., and Rakuten Mobile, Inc., have concluded an agreement on the alignment aiming to contribute to the deployment and utilization of 5G in CHUBU CENTRAIR International Airport Island and surrounding areas.
Positioning these areas as a social implementation field of cutting-edge technologies and services, Aichi Prefecture and Tokoname City aim to realize “Aichi Tokoname Super City Initiative”, which promotes the establishment of innovation bases. And this time, they have decided to conclude an agreement among the parties in order to realize the early deployment of 5G in the target area and promote the social implementation utilizing cutting-edge technologies.
This is the first time in Japan to install sharing antennas through public-private partnerships to expand 5G service area outdoors.
Under this agreement, each parties will cooperate to install 5G base satations and sharing antennas/equipment, aiming to expand 5G service in the target areas in the first half of 2023 . JTOWER will cooperate with each Mobile Network Operators to install sharing equipment in the target area by utilizing Infra-Sharing solution.
JTOWER has contributed to develop the efficient mobile network through the adoption of our IBS service using the originally developed Infra-Sharing equipment at large facilities such as Aichi Sky Expo International Exhibition Center and AEON MALL Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture and Tokoname City.
As a pioneer of Infra-Sharing, we will contribute to the early penetration of 5G and the digitization of society by maximizing the technologies and knowledge we have cultivated over the years in the telecommunication field.

(1) The early expansion of 5G service area
・ Aiming at the first half of 2023, each parties will cooperate to install 5G base stations and sharing antennas/equipment to build 5G network in the target area.
・ NTT DOCOMO, INC., KDDI CORPORATION, SoftBank Corp., and Rakuten Mobile will make best effort to accelerate the installation of 5G base stations.
・ JTOWER will cooperate with each Mobile Network Operators to install sharing antennas/equipment in the target area.
・ Aichi Prefecture and Tokoname City will cooperate in providing prefecture / city-owned land and promoting discussions among related parties for the smooth installation of 5G base stations and sharing antennas/equipment.
(2) Realization of social implementation of advanced services utilizing 5G
・ Each parties will promote realization of social implementation of advanced services aimed at by the “Aichi-Tokoname Super City Initiative” from their respective standpoints.
